Tower Blocks UK resumes activities
Following a brief hiatus over past few months during lockdown, Tower Blocks UK is pleased to be recommencing our usual activities.
What's on our agenda?
In 2020 we launched FixmyBlock; an online information and support guide for tower block tenants. We are now going to be expanding its reach to cover Scottish housing law. We continue to work closely on this project with our partners at mySociety and aim to have further content published by the autumn. In the meantime, we are continuing our FixMyBlock podcast series, joining in conversations with tower block residents and community organisers around the UK. If you're a resident in a block, we would love to hear about your experiences, feedback about the FixMyBlock website, or even interview you for our podcast, so please get in touch!
This year has seen the continuation of the Grenfell Inquiry. Residents have recently been giving evidence. We continue to back the entire Grenfell community in their calls for truth and for justice.
Meanwhile, the government continue to fail in their obligations to ensure tower block residents are safe - with thousands of residential blocks up and down the country still waiting to undergo urgent remediation works. We support the End our Cladding Scandal campaigns 10 demands to the government, read more about their work here.
We continue to offer support and advice to tower block residents throughout the UK, working alongside our various partners, local and national charities and campaign groups.
We've also been working with Journey To Justice to help edit a new version of their factsheet on the Ronan Point disaster of 1968. Find out more about Ronan Point here and read about the ongoing problems affecting Large Panel System tower blocks here.
As always, we would love to hear from you with thoughts, views and ideas, or just to say hello! So please get in touch with us.
