Tower Blocks UK extends our deepest sympathies following the tragic fire at Wang Fuk Court in Hong Kong, on the 26th November 2025. The fire has claimed at least 151 lives, including one firefighter, with many more injured.
The blaze spread rapidly across seven 35-storey residential blocks undergoing renovation, all covered by bamboo scaffolding and protective netting.
Investigations have revealed that some of the netting used did not meet fire-retardant standards, likely contributing to the rapid spread of flames.
Authorities suspect negligence by contractors in using substandard materials. The incident highlights urgent concerns around fire safety and enforcement, especially during renovations of high-rise blocks.
We stand with those affected and urge continued vigilance and improvements in safety standards worldwide.
Tower Blocks UK remains committed to advocating for stronger fire safety measures, enforcement of building regulations, and greater tenant empowerment to prevent such tragedies. Our thoughts are with everyone impacted by this devastating event. Further updates will be shared as investigations develop.
