Are you a social tenant living in a tower block in England or Wales?

If so, you should bookmark the new website FixMyBlock.org — it's going to be useful.

FixMyBlock is the first site to focus purely on information for tower block residents. It's a project from the information and resource group Tower Blocks UK and the charity mySociety.

The project grew as a response to the Grenfell Tower fire, when it became clear that fire safety in tower blocks is a life or death matter — and one that has been sadly overlooked for too long. Beginning with advice on cladding and other unsafe construction methods, the site soon expanded to cover many other issues that blight the lives of tower block tenants.

There's simple advice on how to get problems fixed, like leaky window frames, cracks in walls and, of course, concerns about fire safety. Find out what your rights are within the law, and access letters that can be copied when you contact your landlord or the authorities.

And if you've tried everything to get things fixed with no success, the site offers advice on taking it to the next level: by joining together with neighbours, campaigning or getting the media involved. Inspiring case studies show how effective your action can be.

FixMyBlock is currently available in twenty languages, and right now it has advice for social housing tenants in England and Wales, with plans to extend to cover Scotland and Northern Ireland, as well as other types of tenure soon.
