On 2nd September the BBC aired a Newsnight programme entitled 'The UK's Building Safety Crisis'.


The programme highlights the vast problems identified with many UK residential buildings. From flammable cladding and insulation, combustible materials, missing fire breaks, fire doors and multiple fire safety breaches. Systemic failures within the building industry and by successive governments have led to a crisis affecting hundreds of thousands of people.


For many leaseholders - they are now facing bills of hundreds of thousands of pounds to pay towards remediation costs. BBC's Lewis Goodall explores the impacts on families and individuals and asks - what is the government doing about this monumental crisis and who should be held responsible?
